Youth Voice Changing Conversations about Sexual Violence

In this post, a guest blogger (and one of our very own Expressive Leaders) introduces their podcast, United Survivors, which aims to spread awareness about sexual violence and help survivors. This leader, who prefers to remain anonymous, hopes that their podcast will lead to widespread change. Support their mission and read more about their podcast below!

Hello everyone, I am a part of The Expressive Leaders Program at The Practice Space. I have been with the practice space for almost four years. This is my second year as an expressive leader. This post is about my podcast. A podcast that I hope changes the way many people view sexual violence and its survivors. I started this podcast to help survivors and allies heal, grow, and create change.

I hope that after you read this you can start to understand the amount of change I want to create. I also hope you see why this change is so important. I want you to understand why I am advocating for this.

For the time being, I’d like to remain anonymous. This project is very important to me. It’s also very personal. I feel more comfortable being anonymous for now. This might seem odd, but I believe that I am still doing it despite how personal and real this podcast is for me! I am still pushing to use my voice to create change. To me being a leader is all about putting yourself out there and doing what needs to be done no matter how scared you are. I care about creating a community for survivors and those willing to educate themselves about what Survivors like myself have to deal with.

My project is a podcast centered around uplifting survivors and educating those who aren’t survivors. As a part of my project, I have created social media accounts to help spread the word and use it as a way for survivors to truly connect. You can support and help by following my Instagram account- @united_survivorspod. Following my Instagram means you’re doing your part to help my podcast grow. It also means you’re looking to educate yourself about this issue and that goes a long way.

As a result of this project, I hope to start the discussion many are too afraid to start. Talking about sexual violence in a whole new way, the right way! Is exactly what our generation needs to heal. Follow our Instagram so you can be a part of this journey.
