Youth Mini-Courses

If you aren’t sure whether public speaking is for you, mini-courses can get you started through a few 1-2 hour group sessions.

Tuition assistance is available to those with financial need. Apply for a scholarship to receive a promo code. All mini-courses are offered online and you will receive a Zoom link via email after registering. Mini-courses are open to anyone, regardless of where you live, but times are all California PST time zone.

Ages 8 to 11

Debate for Young Speakers

This mini-course is for young speakers ages 8 to 11 who enjoy arguing or want to become more persuasive. Over the course of three 90-minute sessions, we practice techniques for debating effectively and speaking up about silly and significant topics. We make it fun and comfortable to learn this important life skill, building your confidence and helping you meet new people!

This course is $50. We meet for three 90 minute sessions on Thursdays, September 24th, October 1st, and October 8th. Sessions take place from 3:00pm to 4:30pm PST via Zoom.

Registration is first come, first served, until we sell out — class will be capped at 16 people. After registration, we will reach out via email with the Zoom link for the course, so please make sure you enter a valid email address during payment.

Ages 11 and up

I Have Something to Say: How to Communicate Confidently with Teachers and Adults (event passed)

In this mini-course, teens ages 11-14 practice techniques for combating our fears and anxieties around speaking to teachers and adults, especially for those transitioning into middle or high school for the first time. In three 2-hour sessions, we help students grow and develop their self-confidence through fun and interactive exercises and games. This mini-course is good for students who struggle to connect with teachers and adults, but are willing to explore creative ways for facing and tackling their fears.

This course is $50. We meet for 2 hours on Wednesday, September 9th,Thursday, September 10th, and Friday, September 11th. Sessions take place from 3:30-5:30pm PST via Zoom.

Registration is first come, first served, until we sell out—class will be capped at 15 people. After registration, we will reach out via email with the Zoom link for the course, so please make sure you enter a valid email address during payment.

Debate for Middle School

This mini-course is for middle schoolers who have something to say! These three 90-minute sessions are open to beginning and intermediate debaters, and we focus on building confidence as well as becoming a more persuasive speaker. So, whether you already love debate or have always been curious but were too shy to debate, this course is for you! Over three sessions, we practice debating different topics and work together with partners in a fun, supportive environment.

This course is $50. We meet for three 90 minute sessions on Thursdays, September 24th, October 1st, and October 8th. Sessions take place from 4:30pm to 6pm PST via Zoom.
