Event Details
Debate scrimmages are informal practice “tournaments” to help beginning debaters build confidence and skill with parliamentary-style debate. In a half-day scrimmage, debaters are paired up with a partner and experience 3 to 4 different debate rounds, each focused on a different topic. Scrimmages are designed to be a less intimidating way to practice debate skills before going to more formal competitions and are open to middle and high school students of all experience levels (although most participants tend to be beginners). Scrimmages are also a great way for adults to learn and practice judging debate rounds!
