Civic Leaders Academy: Young Speakers (Rising 5th–8th Grade)

Explore big ideas, speak up, and learn how to make your voice heard! The Civic Leaders Academy: Young Speakers Program is open to students entering 5th through 8th grade who are curious about the world and want to develop real skills in public speaking, podcasting, and leadership. You’ll work in small groups with a dedicated volunteer mentor to research a social issue you care about, share your opinions in thoughtful conversations, and record your very own podcast episode. You’ll also go on field trips, write your first resume, and take part in a community panel to present your ideas. No experience is needed—just a passion for learning and speaking out. Students from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply, with priority for Richmond residents.
